Broadcaster Album Design
Personal Project
June, 2015I'm a big fan of early and mid 90s grunge and mud rock. One of my all time favourite bands in this genre has always been Chicago's Triple Fast Action. As personal project for myself I decided to redesign the packaging for their album Broadcaster.
what i didUsing found imagery and photos from public domain depicting 1950s "pulp fiction" style culture I designed, printed and packaged a complete album for Triple Fast Action. The final deliverables included the cardboard jewel case, a liner notes booklet with lyrics and the CD itself.

The concept that drove my design for this album cover was the contrast between Wes Kids haunting voice and lyrics and the harsh and noisey instruments. I used various methods to "glitch" typography and imagery to also emphasize this point. I used images from the "pulp comic" era of the 1950s to capture the "Americana" tones I feel much of this album embodies.

As a web designer I don't get to do much print work and creating projects like this for myself has always been a lot of fun. My favourite part about this project is that Triple Fast Action "liked" it on Twitter after I posted it.
